Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
On this date in the Garden State, the New Jersey Attorney Discipline Review Board (the DRB) suspended Dorca I. Delgado-Shafer, Esquirette [#102027] for two years effective January 2, 2009 for engaging in dishonesty, fraud, deceit and misrepresentation by advising a financial institution that she was holding $41,000 for her clients in a real estate transaction when she was not and for attaching an altered bank statement in support of the letter; for commingling personal funds in her trust account and committing recordkeeping violations; and for engaging in a conflict of interest by representing her brother in a foreclosure involving a residence used by Dorca, which foreclosure was caused by the her failure to timely remit monthly mortgage payments on the property which was owned by her brother.
Melissa A. Czartoryski, Esquirette appeared before the Supreme Court for the New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics (the OAE).
David H. Dugan, III, Esquire represented Dorca.
Were any of Dorca’s clients injured as a consequence of his misconduct in this or the underlying matter? Was restitution ordered? Paid?
Have there been other instances of misconduct by Miss Delgado-Shafer that haven’t been addressed by the DRB?
