Cavell, age 27 of Sacramento. Cavell was indicted, March 12, 2009 along with co-conspirator Christopher J. Warren, age 26, of Folsom, by a Federal Grand Jury for $7 mil­lion fraud, money laun­der­ing and iden­tity theft scheme.

Five DWI, Esquire(tte)s | INDICTED

On this date, in the Tar Heel State, five lawyers, includ­ing a for­mer assis­tant dis­trict attor­ney and a court clerk were indicted on charges of tam­per­ing with court doc­u­ments and obstruc­tion of jus­tice for their roles in the fraud­u­lent dis­missal of dozens– 70, per­haps more, DWI cases.

California Bar Complaint Against Miles Ehrlich

On May 9, 2005, prior to his resign­ing from the Department of Justice, Miles Frederick Ehrlich obtained infor­ma­tion regard­ing crim­i­nal activ­ity engaged in by Marcia Hatch (a/k/a Marcia Bruggeman, Marsha Hatch and Marsha Bruggeman of Heller Ehrman– she’s cur­rently a “part­ner” with Gunderson Dettmer), her hus­band, Seamus Hatch and Mr. Hatch’s busi­ness partner—Michael Bock (a/k/a Douglas Bock, Michael Bock and Mike Bock) of Littleton, Colorado, among oth­ers, from Jon Goodwin. According to Goodwin’s com­plaint the nature of the crim­i­nal activ­ity he reported to Ehrlich included: nar­cotics traf­fick­ing, con­spir­acy to laun­der money, iden­tity theft, theft of elec­tronic infor­ma­tion, fraud and bribery of judi­cial officials.

Proposed by the Florida Bar Association, Odiator Arugu, Esquire has been admit­ted to the Evil Esq Bar Association as an asso­ciate mem­ber.
The Florida State Supreme Court rep­ri­manded Odiator Arugu and placed him on pro­ba­tion for two years, fol­low­ing a Feb. 12 court order. Arugu was admit­ted to prac­tice in Florida in 1995.

Judge Ralph Eriksson | [REPRIMANDED]

Yesterday, the state’s “Judicial Qualifications Commission” met to decide the fate of Seminole County Judge Ralph Eriksson, age 61, who, increased Bob Lee Walton III bail to $10,000 and jailed him in order to pun­ish his lawyer. The com­mis­sion also found, the judge turned away peo­ple who were request­ing domes­tic vio­lence injunc­tions, that were not rep­re­sented by lawyers, by mis­lead­ing them into believ­ing they needed wit­nesses to sup­port their testimony.

Theodore Silva Jr., Esquire | REPRIMANDED

Attention all lawyers fond of cocaine, forgery, and deceit: You won’t make part­ner at Holland & Knight, but that doesn’t mean they won’t hire you. Just ask Theodore S. Silva Jr., a for­mer Holland & Knight part­ner who has been pub­licly rep­ri­manded by the Virginia Bar for plead­ing guilty to a felony charge of pos­ses­sion of cocaine (charges were ulti­mately dis­missed for Silva’s com­pli­ance with court orders), fail­ing to report the cocaine arrest, fail­ure to pay Virginia Bar dues, and fail­ing to main­tain his CLE or “con­tin­u­ing legal edu­ca­tion” cred­its. We applaud the Virginia Bar for its staunch enforce­ment of its CLE require­ments, for who knows how dif­fer­ent things could be if Mr. Silva had the ben­e­fit of an annual ethics class.
