Contempt

Contempt refers to willful disobedience or disregard of a court order, any misconduct in the presence of a court, any action that interferes with a judge’s ability to administer justice or that insults the dignity of the court. There are both civil and criminal contempts and the line distinguishing the two often blurs.

On this date in the “Golden” state, Githaiga Daniel Ramsey, tendered his resignation to the State Bar of California with charges pending. The charges in this case included twenty-two acts of “misconduct” including eight counts of “moral turpitude,” including misappropriation, fraud, fabricating documents and entering into improper business transactions with a client.
