New Jersey. Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
On this date, in the Garden State, the Supreme Court of New Jersey reprimanded lawyer Michael A. Mc Laughlin, Sr. for violating a Supreme Court order imposed at the time he was admitted to practice that required that he file quarterly reports for two years confirming that he had refrained from the use of alcohol or other intoxicating substances and had continued to attend Alcoholics Anonymous and Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers meetings.
Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers huh? Sounds like an interesting, not to mention effective group.
In June 2002, Mc Laughlin had a one-evening relapse and was charged with driving while intoxicated. while the DWI matter was pending, he filed a quarterly certification with the Supreme Court’s Character Committee attesting to his continued sobriety. This was a misrepresentation.
Mc Laughlin subsequently reported the DWI arrest to the Character Committee.
Richard J. Engelhardt, Esquire appeared before the Discipline Review Board for the Office of Attorney Ethics.
Albert B. Jeffers, Esquire appeared for Mc Laughlin.
Have there been any other instances of misconduct by Mr. Mc Laughlin that haven’t been addressed by Office of Attorney Ethics?
