New Jersey. Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
On this date, in the Garden State, the Supreme Court of New Jersey disbarred lawyer Steven C. Cunningham for pleading guilty in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division to a one count accusation charging him with third degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5–1 and N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a.
Factually, on three separate occasions, Mr. Cunningham engaged an individual, whom he believed to be a 12-year old boy, in lewd Internet “chat” sexual conversations.
Richard J. Engelhardt, Esquire appeared before the Supreme Court for the Office of Attorney Ethics. Mr. Cunningham waived appearance. Too busy chatting on the Internet to attend his disbarment, perhaps?
Were there any other instances of misconduct by Mr. Cunningham that weren’t addressed by Office of Attorney Ethics?
