EvilEsq has received confirmation that Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian LLP won the bidding war for Heller Ehrman’s money laundering practice. Cooley Godward Kronish LLP was the first looser in the “heated” battle which we suspect took place in the “executive conference facilities of the Ritz.” But neither Marcia Hatch (a/k/a Marsha Hatch, Marsha Bruggeman, Marcia Bruggeman) or her criminal defense attorney, Miles Ehrlich returned the calls we didn’t place.

Frederick Anthony Petz, Xsquire of Grosse Pointe Woods has been nominated by the citizens of the Wolverine State, for induction into the Evil Esquire Bar Association. Petz operates under the same doctrine as politicians, i.e., that he’s better able to spend peoples’ than they are. The State of Michigan Attorney Discipline Board took exception with Frederick’s handling of “client” funds and on two occasions sanctioned him for “misappropriation” and making “misrepresentations” to cleints.

Attention all lawyers fond of cocaine, forgery, and deceit: You won’t make partner at Holland & Knight, but that doesn’t mean they won’t hire you. Just ask Theodore S. Silva Jr., a former Holland & Knight partner who has been publicly reprimanded by the Virginia Bar for pleading guilty to a felony charge of possession of cocaine (charges were ultimately dismissed for Silva’s compliance with court orders), failing to report the cocaine arrest, failure to pay Virginia Bar dues, and failing to maintain his CLE or “continuing legal education” credits. We applaud the Virginia Bar for its staunch enforcement of its CLE requirements, for who knows how different things could be if Mr. Silva had the benefit of an annual ethics class.

Daniel was admitted to the State Bar of California on June 8, 1992. He attended Brigham Young University and obtained his law degree from Brigham Young University’s J Reuben Clark Law School.

On this date in the morally and financially bankrupt state the illustrious State Bar of California disbarred after suspending (interim) lawyer Perry Seth Reich, age 59, of Queens Village, New York. Perry was convicted of forging a judge’s signature and obstructing justice in 2005.
