New Jersey. Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
On this date, in the Garden State, the Supreme Court of New Jersey suspended Terrence P. Tormey for unethically representing a 79-year old native of Portugal who had difficulty in speaking and understanding the English language in the sale of his home to another of Mr. Tormey’s clients (a sophisticated businessman).
The result of this transaction was that Tormey’s conflict, coupled with his gross negligence and failure to communicate with the seller, caused the seller to essentially give his house away. Tormey represented both parties from negotiation through closing.
Mr. Tormey’s license to practice law was suspended on June 11, 2007 for a period of 2 years.
Walton W. Kingsbery, III, Esquire appeared before the Supreme Court for the Office of Attorney Ethics. Robert A. Weir, Jr., Esquire appeared for Terry.
Has restitution been made to the seller of the house?
Have there been any other instances of misconduct by Mr. Tormey that haven’t been addressed by Office of Attorney Ethics?

This is outrageous. This a-hole should have been disbarred.
Preying on an elderly immigrant. How could NJ not disbar this sleazeball?
Why, any lawyer worth his salt should try to do over his clients given the opportunity but you have to do it in style. Honestly.
I know this man personaly, what a dirtbag.……he has done more and worse im sure, wish I could get him disbarred perm!!!!
