New Jersey. Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
On this date, in the Garden State, the Supreme Court of New Jersey suspended Vijay M. Gokhale for violations including failure to file state and federal income tax returns for the years 1999–2001.
Additionally, in connection with a real estate matter, the Mr. Gokhale engaged in gross neglect, failure to promptly pay funds to third parties, trust account recordkeeping violations, failure to withdraw from representation and failure to cooperate with disciplinary authorities during the investigation and processing of this matter.
Mr. Gokhale’s license to practice law was suspended on September 18, 2003 for a period of 12 months.
John McGill III, Esquire appeared before the Discipline Review Board for the Office of Attorney Ethics. Mr. Gokhale appeared in pro se.
Mr. Gokhale is a repeat offender of the Rules of ‘Professional’ Conduct. He was reprimanded in 2001 and temporarily suspended in 2003. Thus far, his aggregate unethical conduct has not yet risen to the level deemed meritorious of disbarment by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
Were any of Mr. Gokhale’s clients injured as a consequence of his actions? If so, are those who were injured satisfied with the discipline imposed in this case? Has restitution been made?
Have there been any other instances of misconduct by Mr. Gokhale that haven’t been addressed by Office of Attorney Ethics?
